There are facilities for community meetings as well. The new academic building is progressing as well. Registration for academic classes is on August 8th from 8:30-6:30 in the CTF, which is located on exit 92, Highway 11 towards Chesnee, 3/4 mile from I-85, on the left. Call 864- 206-2700 Gaffney, 1-800-922-3679 tollfree or 864-592-6501 Spartanburg for more information or see our website: http://www.stcsc.edu/conted/cat-ccc.asp
The new CCE online-registration website will go live September first, which will make it much easier to find and register for CCE classes without having to go to any campus. You can register for any CCE class on any campus at any time, but we recommend signing up at least a week early so you will get a seat.
Plans for renovations at the Tyger River Campus in Duncan are coming together, according to Lynn Dale, executive Director of the campus and the SCC-BMW Center. Structural renovations to 90,000 square feet of warehouse space have been completed and architects are reviewing the rest of the building for structural needs. Spartanburg County Council has given SCC $1 million for renovations to develop/expand our Accelerated Business Center at Tyger River. These renovations are to begin soon. We also have three projects in the making that, if all work out favorably, will require major renovations.
SCC-CCE is partnering with Union County and City governments, and USC-U to build a new training facility to stimulate economic growth in Union County. The new facility will include robotics, electronics, and mechanical labs with training in all current industrial processes, including a Mechatronics lab. USC-U will manage the academic side of the project, and SCC- CCE will handle the industrial training. Two locations have been suggested for the facility, one on Highway 176 across from the industrial park, and the other in downtown Union on the USC-U campus. Union County Council is pursuing grant funding for the building and equipment. A pre-apprenticeship program has already begun to train prospective students for the LSP industrial apprenticeships. Two more apprenticeship programs are already booked and full of students for the fall.
Apprenticeship funds are available through grants from SCC-CCE. Contact Barry Benson 864-592-6107 or Susan Tate 864-592-4191 for more information. Currently Timken, Alcoa Home Exteriors, Core Molding, Goodyear, Waldrop Heating and Air Conditioning, Barnet Polymers, and others are apprenticeship partners with CCE.
The Testing Center at the SCC-BMW Center offers high-stakes certifcation testing from Prometric, Pearson-VUE, and ACT/Work Keys, as well as pre-employment testing and screening. Pearson-VUE is now the exclusive provider of CISCO certification exams.
