April 17, 2008 by Corporate & Community Education
From April 17-20, the University of South Carolina Upstate will host “The Wall That Heals,” an exhibition featuring a 250-foot replica of the original the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
“The Wall That Heals” is an outreach program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, and since its dedication in 1996, has traveled to 250 cities and towns across the country bringing the Memorial’s healing legacy to millions. The traveling exhibit “allows the souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist, once more, among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings,” according to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund web site, www.vvmf.org. A traveling museum and information center will also accompany the Wall.
The exhibit is free and open to the public 24-hours a day during its four-day visit. Assistance in locating names on the Wall, which are arranged by the date of death of the veteran, will be available from 9 am-6 pm each day. The exhibit is located on the USC Upstate campus behind the Administration Building on the Main Quad.
