Learn the basics of drawing using shapes, beginning details, incorporating background and experimenting with textures. You will draw a still-life using contour lines, shading and cast shadows in addition to landscape and animal drawing.
This course will introduce you to the use of perspective in drawing. Experiment with one, two and three point perspective using basic shapes, scaling distance, incorporating shading, shadows, colors, details and texture.
A native of Spartanburg, drawing instructor Jim Taylor’s interests have always included producing art. In college his focus included studies in painting, art history and drafting. His artwork has won many awards and his works include drawings of downtown Spartanburg, Spartan Mills and historic Hampton Heights.
Class materials needed: 11×14 or 12×16 sketchbook, drawing pencils: 2H, 4H, 2B, 4B, 6B, kneaded eraser, rubber eraser, ruler, glue stick, scissors, and charcoal (optional).
