Spartanburg, S.C. – Union County residents will pay $165 less each semester to attend Spartanburg Community College beginning January 2010.

“The decision for the tuition reduction is in conjunction with the opening of the QuickJobs Development Center and the commitment of financial support by Union County,” said Henry Giles, SCC’s executive vice president of business affairs.

For SCC’s spring 2010 semester, tuition for Union County students will be reduced to $1,956 per semester for full time students (12 credit hours or more), a savings of $165 per semester and $163 per credit hour for those taking fewer than 12 hours, a savings of $14 per credit hour. Prior to that decision, Union County students attending SCC full time paid the out-of-county tuition rate of $2,121 per semester. Those attending for fewer than 12 credit hours paid $177 per credit hour.

The Spartanburg County Commission for Technical and Community Education passed the new tuition structure during the Commission’s September meeting.

Registration for the spring semester began November 2 and the new tuition structure is in effect.
