Students in Spartanburg Community College’s Associate in Arts with Business Electives Program can now continue their education and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Citadel. This articulation agreement, the first SCC has formed with The Citadel, provides students another opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree through SCC’s University Transfer Program.
“The Citadel is very excited to partner with SCC. This transfer program, called a 2 Plus 2 program, allows students from SCC to complete a degree from The Citadel, without necessarily having to move to Charleston,” said Dr. Bob McNamara, associate dean of Evening Undergraduate Studies at The Citadel. “We are committed to helping students achieve their educational goals and these types of partnerships serve to fulfill that objective. While not every student will select The Citadel as their educational provider, we think this new relationship with SCC and other similar schools give students greater flexibility and choice in deciding which institution best suits their needs.”
Students who enroll in SCC’s University Transfer Program are partnered with an advisor who ensures the student takes the required coursework for acceptance into The Citadel’s Evening Undergraduate Studies Program. Students also have to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. After earning the associate of arts degree, which takes approximately two years, students seamlessly transfer to The Citadel where they can complete a bachelor’s degree by taking online, distance learning, weekend or traditional evening classes in a professional, civilian environment in Charleston.
“SCC is very proud to add one of the top public colleges in the south to our repertoire of transfer options,” said Henry Giles, SCC’s interim president. “This articulation agreement offers SCC students access to the nationally recognized education that The Citadel provides.”
