This August, Spartanburg Community College (SCC) will celebrate its 50th anniversary of providing accessible, affordable and accredited education and workforce training to Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union County residents. In honor of this celebration, SCC seeks to capture the College’s history in a pictorial book and invites the community to share information, stories, photographs, as well as student and alumni successes that help showcase SCC’s past 50 years.

“SCC has served thousands of individuals in our community and grown tremendously over the past 50 years,” said Dr. Jenny Williams, SCC’s academic program director for English and a member of the faculty-staff committee planning the College’s anniversary festivities. “For every person the College has touched, there is a story to be told. We’re hoping to capture the essence of the College’s impact on our community while highlighting the major milestones and triumphs, not only for the College itself, but for the students and alumni as well.”

“We welcome any type of special SCC mementoes,” adds Dr. Williams. “We are hopeful that former students and alumni will share their memories with us, as well as any photos, graduation programs, t-shirts, basketball uniforms, and trophies. Anything!”

Individuals wishing to share their stories can email Dr. Jenny Williams at williamsj@sccsc.edu. Please email all student success stories to Dr. Bruce Dillenbeck, SCC academic director of social sciences, at dillenbeckb@sccsc.edu.
