Military spouse Tracy Buchanan wanted to pursue a career in real estate after his wife retired from the military.

Tracy worked multiple jobs in the communications industry as he and his wife traveled from air force base to air force base. Once his wife retired, he saw an opportunity to pursue a new career path.

After connecting with a representative at Spartanburg Community College, Tracy was floored to find out about the assistance VSF provides to military spouses. He was even more surprised by how quickly he was granted a scholarship. Read Full Article

Muzzle-with-leash

Dr. Lauren Johnson, DVM, demonstrates how to make a muzzle out of gauze and how to use the leash as a muzzle.

Students just completed a class on First Aid for Cats & Dogs Saturday, April 2.

One of the class members shared some photos with us. They really enjoyed the class and learned to handle emergencies with their pets. They even learned how to make a cat burrito in order to keep them still.

First Aid for Cats & Dogs classes are available in June and July.

Music-1960The 1960s were one of the most turbulent decades in our nation’s history. We had the Civil Rights movement, the war in Vietnam, assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., Senator Robert Kennedy, and Malcom X. We had the sexual revolution, cold war, Berlin Wall, Cuban Missile Crisis, riots and burning of major cities, women’s movement, dissent and disobedience throughout the country, and men walking on the moon.

Plus, we had the greatest popular music of all time! Jack Fisher, the disc jockey who introduced The Beatles at their first U.S. concert, was a regular dancer on American Bandstand, and rubbed elbows with early rock ‘n’ roll legends, including Dick Clark, Chubby Checker, and Ricky Nelson, will take you on a trip down through the soundtrack of your life by demonstrating how the music and culture reflected and influenced a generation. This lecture series will cover the decade year by year. The 1960s. They were turbulent and they were memorable. Come revisit this special time.
